Advisory Council
The Welcome Collaborative is informed by the guidance provided by its Advisory Council, which meets three times a year.
The Advisory Council membership reflects the pathways of physicians trained outside of Canada, ensuring diversity and representation. Membership constitutes six members from the following organizations:
- Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine;
- Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia;
- Two physician specialists (one from Family Medicine, one from another specialty); and
- Government of Nova Scotia.
Drawing from the professional, academic, and living experience of its members, the Advisory Council offers advice on:
- The challenges and barriers faced by physicians trained outside of Canada and their families upon arrival to Nova Scotia;
- The curriculum of the Welcome Collaborative; and
- Program evaluation and continuous quality improvement of the Welcome Collaborative.
