In June, 17 physicians new to practising in Nova Scotia participated in Welcome Collaborative orientation program at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. The program supports physicians trained outside of North America to successfully integrate into the Nova Scotia health-care system.

This physician cohort included physicians in the following specialties: 11 in family medicine, three in internal medicine, two in psychiatry, and one in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Macbeth, Dr. Ojubolamo and Dr. Williams attended the June session of the Welcome Collaborative.

Four of the physicians hold a Full licence, eight hold a Clinical Assessment licence and are candidates at the Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence, and one holds an academic licence. The remaining four have been issued a Defined licence and, as such, are under supervision on a pathway to independent licensure.

The Welcome Collaborative program is funded by the government of Nova Scotia and is the first of its kind in Canada.

The next Welcome Collaborative takes place September 21-25, 2026, at the College and Dalhousie University.
