19 Physicians Attend Orientation Session

Nineteen physicians attended the December 3-day orientation session at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. This was the fourth offering of the Welcome Collaborative program in 2024. The physician orientation program covers three days of intensive discussion and training, which is intended to help physicians trained outside of Canada settle into their new places of practice.
Of the participating physicians, nine hold a Full licence, and one holds a Clinical Assistant licence. The remaining nine have been issued a Defined licence and, as such, are under supervision on a pathway to independent licensure.
This physician cohort included the following specialists: 12 in family medicine, three in internal medicine, one in anesthesiology, one in dermatology and one in psychiatry.
The program is the first of its kind in Canada and is designed to help support physicians who have been trained outside of Canada successfully integrate into the healthcare system in Nova Scotia.
The next Welcome Collaborative takes place March 26–28, 2024 at the College.
